Daniel Heacock
Daniel Heacock founded Signal Forward on the idea in its name: cut through the noise in healthcare data to find the signal that actually moves a decision, and carry it forward into action. Finding the signal is where the work starts. Making it hold up is what makes it count. Most AI in healthcare and in litigation fails that second test, because it cannot be audited, reproduced, or defended (a CFO will not underwrite it, a compliance committee will not clear it, and an expert cannot defend it under cross-examination). Signal Forward builds the AI that does: the model handles the reading and the language, while the money, coverage, and risk decisions run as deterministic, auditable code.
Background
Before Signal Forward, Daniel led global analytics at Optum and worked in HCA Healthcare's Clinical Services Group, building and leading data functions at the scale of the largest health system in the country. His work spans:
- Deterministic, auditable model and rule-engine engineering (AI at build time, deterministic decisions at runtime)
- Revenue-cycle, value-based-care, and healthcare claims analytics at scale
- Secure AI enablement, HIPAA-compliant cloud architecture, and AI governance
- Privilege-grade forensic and fraud analytics for outside counsel

Signal Forward is principal-led, with senior people on the work and no junior hand-offs. Daniel sets strategy, owns key deliverables, and stays on every engagement, backed by a credentialed core team and a curated network of vetted senior specialists assembled per engagement:
- Head of Operations & Performance Improvement: 15+ years of enterprise healthcare performance improvement across 180+ hospitals (nursing operations, labor and productivity, throughput), Lean and Six Sigma, workforce management, and a Georgia Tech background in industrial engineering and health systems
- Data & AI engineering: claims and clinical pipelines, deterministic reference-data and classification systems, HIPAA-compliant cloud architecture
- Forensic & expert analytics: a privilege-compliant data team, with a contracted statistician and data scientist available for testifying-expert work
